Kansas City, KS — With warm summer weather on the horizon, flocks of people often take to the gym and the sun in an effort to boost their appearance before the coming months of lighter clothing, swimsuits, and outdoor social gatherings. At their Kansas City facial plastic surgery practice, KU Facial Plastic Surgery, Drs. J. David Kriet and Clinton Humphrey say patients are also migrating to medical practitioners for cosmetic “tune-ups” that can enhance the youthful, vibrant tone of their skin and face as the emerging sun warms winter’s pale hue. Dr. Kriet and Dr. Humphrey say they typically see a growing demand for facial plastic surgery procedures and minimally-invasive rejuvenation treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic during spring, an observation they say has been compounded this year with a number of other factors.

According to the most recently released study from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), a rising trend in aesthetic procedures is improved patient education about plastic surgery, including the various procedures and fillers that are available as well as patient safety practices. As more patients become aware of cosmetic enhancements and their ability to improve self-confidence, Drs. Kriet and Humphrey say traditionally popular months for treatment such as March, April, and May will continue to be popular seasons for undergoing a procedure. The AAFPRS study also shows that patients are now showing more prevalent use of non-surgical cosmetic procedures, a statistic which Dr. Kriet says reflects an increasing desire to achieve meaningful and natural results with minimal downtime.

As facial plastic surgeons in Kansas City, Drs. Kriet and Humphrey say popularity of more conservative, natural enhancement is characteristic of patient preparation for the upcoming summer months. They say patients are most often looking to restore and rejuvenate their facial appearance before spending extended periods of time in the sun and outdoor lighting. Through office procedures, Dr. Kriet says patients can achieve an enhanced “tune-up” without having to spend time recovering: “Spring is a great time for tune-ups before summer. Office procedures such as laser peels, filler injections, and Botox or Dysport are especially popular this time of year. These procedures can have a quick impact with pretty limited recovery time.”

Regardless of whether patients are looking for some quick finishing touches before summer or a more significant procedure to make noticeable changes in their appearance and confidence, Drs. Kriet and Humphrey recommend consulting with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon before undergoing any treatment. They stress the importance of choosing a dedicated and experienced practice for one’s procedure so as to ensure the safest, most effective results possible are attained. Through personalized attention and a strong doctor-patient relationship, Drs. Kriet and Humphrey add that patients can spend less time feeling self-conscious and more time enjoying the things they love about summertime.
