Restylane®

Restylane® can be an excellent option for wrinkle reduction. As one of the most effective and scientifically advanced dermal fillers available, Restylane® can achieve a younger-looking aesthetic by filling in areas that have become creased and sunken. These subtle additions of volume achieved through strategic injections can diminish the appearance of wrinkles while restoring the facial fullness associated with youth for a smoother, rejuvenated facial aesthetic.

The ingredient responsible for the effectiveness of Restylane® is hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the human body and provides firmness and volume to facial skin. In the past, dermal fillers comprised of substances like collagen were derived from animal sources, meaning patients had to undergo allergy testing before using fillers. Since animal proteins are not utilized in the manufacture of Restylane®, patients who undergo treatment generally don’t have to worry about allergic reactions. Each Restylane® product is tailored to address both the severity and location of your unique aesthetic concern for optimal enhancement.

What Can Restylane® Do For Me?

Restylane® is FDA-approved for correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and facial folds. Additionally, patients 21 and over can use the filler to enhance the lips for a plumper and fuller look without the need for surgery. Depending on your concerns, Restylane® can generally improve the following areas:

  • Nasolabial folds, or “smile lines”
  • The upper and lower lips
  • Marionette lines
  • Corners of the mouth

What is Restylane® Treatment Like?

Like other facial rejuvenation methods, Restylane® is injected into areas of the face that exhibit wrinkles, such as the cheek folds and lips. Because of its unique chemical structure, the molecules in Restylane® tend to bond with water as they break down, allowing the “plumping” effect to last for about six months— far longer than some other dermal fillers.

Restylane® comes in many different formulations, each variation designed to target specific areas of concern. During a consultation, Drs. Kriet or Humphrey will listen to your cosmetic goals and help you determine which filler can achieve your ideal aesthetic most effectively. All Restylane® fillers are generally administered in the same fashion. Using an ultra-fine needle, the gel will be precisely injected into the planned treatment areas until the desired outcome is achieved. Patients may experience minor bruising or swelling at the injection sites immediately following the procedure, but there is usually no downtime. Depending on the nature of your concerns and the number of treatment areas, the entire process can take as little as thirty minutes.

Results from Restylane® are often immediately apparent and have been shown to last anywhere from six months to one year. Many patients undergo touch-up treatments to prolong the aesthetic outcome.

Restylane® Silk

To achieve exceptionally natural-looking lip augmentation, Restylane® Silk is a smooth consistency gel specially designed to add definition and contour to the lips for enhanced shape and/or volume. The hyaluronic acid-based filler is also FDA-approved for wrinkle reduction in regions around the mouth, such as the nasolabial folds and perioral lines (“smoker’s lines”). Because of its smoother formulation and the inclusion of a numbing agent called lidocaine, Restylane® Silk has been known to have a gentler application process when compared to other fillers. Results of one treatment session have been known to last six months or longer.

Restylane® Lyft

Formerly known as Perlane-L®, Restylane® Lyft is a filler used to treat age-related volume deficits in the face. To combat the loss of both skin elasticity and collagen production that occurs naturally with age, the Restylane® Lyft formula is designed to restore volume in sunken areas, such as the cheeks, temples, and hollows below the eyes. Additionally, the injectable can address the nasolabial folds and other moderate to severe facial creases. Like other Restylane® fillers, Restylane® Lyft is composed of a mixture of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine for results that can last anywhere from six to twelve months.
