Aesthetic Services

For some individuals, plastic surgery procedures such as facelift are not necessary to accomplish their goals. In these cases, minimally-invasive rejuvenation treatments can provide subtle, but effective, skin renewal. Large pores, wrinkles, and brown spots are but a few of the conditions that can be readily treated. Our facial plastic surgeons, Drs. J. David Kriet and Clinton D. Humphrey, offer a range of skin care options that can help you refresh your appearance.

SkinPen/Microneedling

Microneedling stimulates the skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen and elastin for healthier, younger looking skin. This new production can reverse years of sun damage, improve acne scars and enhance the overall appearance of aging skin. The procedure typically takes 15-30 minutes, depending upon the severity of skin damage. Total healing time depends on the depth of treatment. On average, patients are pink for 2-4 days. Some patients heal completely in 24 hours. Dermal collagen remodeling takes place over time and continues to improve up to six months after treatment. For the treatment of acne scarring 3-5 treatments are recommended.

BBL/Photorejuvenation

For patients seeking a more even complexion; a BBL Photofacial will yield the best results. Patients with heavy solar damage will see improvement after one treatment. BBL is also appropriate for treating Rosacea. This treatment can be done alone, or in combination with a Microlaserpeel. This is a KUMedWest favorite and is also suitable for necks, chests, arms, and hands. Broadband light targets unwanted vessels, and sunspots. This is our best treatment for skin prone to rosacea or vascular conditions. Excellent for treating sun damage and age spots on the face, neck, chest and hands.

Chemical Peels

As we age our skin cells slow down, sometimes leaving the skin looking tired and dull. Our chemical peel is a light superficial peel to accelerate skin cell turnover. It immediately leaves the skin brighter and tighter looking. Depending on skin condition a series of peels may be recommended. It helps combat the early signs of aging, speeds the delivery of other topical treatments, and complement facelifts.

Designed to target superficial and medium-depth skin conditions, chemical peels can provide you with significant reduction in the appearance of damaged skin and signs of aging. Additionally, these treatments can rejuvenate your skin to a healthier, more youthful sheen. A series of 4-6 peels provides the best overall results.

MicroLaserPeel®

If skin resurfacing is your concern, our MicroLaserPeel® may be the solution. Also known as skin resurfacing, our laser removes a thin layer of damaged skin to improve skin texture and provide a more refined, youthful, and healthy appearance. Our deep laser peel addresses fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size. If hyperpigmentation is also a concern, MicroLaserPeel® can be done in combination with BBL. Skin typically appears smoother, brighter, and tighter within one week. This treatment is a great complement to BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers. Depending on the depth of the peel, patients will look and feel sunburned for an average of three days. For the best results, it should be done two weeks before fillers and BOTOX® Cosmetic. This is a great treatment prior to a special event, or pursued yearly to maintain a more youthful appearance.

Obagi Blue Peel®

Composed of a low concentration of trichloroacetic acid, this medium-depth chemical peel can be very effective for patients struggling with mild to moderate wrinkles, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, or a generally rough skin texture. The peel works to expel damaged layers of the skin to reveal a healthier-looking tone and texture. Obagi Blue Peel® includes a patented blue base, which can provide a personalized application process tailored to your unique needs. Approved for use on the face, neck, hands, and the backs of the arms and legs, many patients experience a dramatic improvement in their complexion after treatment. Each application takes approximately 20 minutes and the peel can be applied in multiple layers, depending on the extent of your concerns. If further enhancement is desired, additional sessions can be pursued in six to eight week intervals.

Laser Hair Reduction

Do you waste too much time shaving? Are you embarrassed by unwanted facial or body hair? Laser Hair Reduction reduces unwanted hair production by 60-90%. This treatment is suitable for dark hair on the face or body. It does not work on grey hair or peach fuzz. The area to be treated, should be shaved 24 hours before treatment. Typically 5-8 treatments scheduled 4-6 weeks apart, yield the best results.

LATISSE®

If you wish to achieve longer, fuller upper eyelashes, LATISSE® can be an excellent solution. Distributed by Allergan, LATISSE® is a prescription-strength medication approved by the FDA to treat insufficient eyelash growth – a condition known medically as hypotrichosis. Based on your specific needs and goals, the innovative product can be applied topically to the base of your upper eyelashes once a day, helping to thicken, lengthen, and darken the upper lashes for an enhanced overall aesthetic result.

Initial effects of LATISSE® generally begin to show after about 8 weeks, and results should continue to improve until an optimal outcome is attained at approximately 16 weeks.
