Some people may experience more notable signs of aging in the mid-portion of the face rather than the entire face and may be a candidate for a mid-face lift rather than a full face lift. The mid-face lift addresses areas including the cheekbones and the eyes with the goal of tightening the skin and significantly reducing the appearance of wrinkles, excess fat, and bags under the eyes.
A mid-face lift at our practice s can be performed with minimal incisions that are easily hidden from view. Our facial plastic surgeons begin the procedure by hiding incisions within the temporal hairline, in the lower eyelid or inside the mouth. During the mid-face lift, lax tissues are suspended resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance to the mid-facial features.
The mid-face lift can be performed as an outpatient under general anesthesia. The procedure generally takes about two hours to complete.
Patients can expect some degree of bruising, swelling, and discomfort in the days after surgery; however, these side effects can be managed with medication. Mid-face lift patients should stay away from strenuous activity for several weeks following surgery, and as with all facial procedures, sunscreen should be worn on a daily basis and the face should be protected from potential harm.
